Silence & Self-Worth: Unlock Your True Potential

I believe it’s one of the most important truths in all of healing and self-worth. I originally learned it from Father Frank, the priest who made all the difference in my life. Truly, he was a spiritual father to me. He said to me, “Tom, when it comes to beliefs about yourself—whether you believe you are something or not—you are right.” This explains why so many people struggle in life. They believe they’re failures, not good enough, or unloved. These false beliefs come from lies that were told to them when they were young—often by their families, who sent them these terrible messages. Moses struggled with self-belief. He lived a troubled life and found himself old, with a stutter. He didn’t think he could accomplish anything. But God spoke to him in the burning bush and showed him that he could be a great leader. Moses went on to be one of the greatest leaders in all of salvation history. He spoke boldly to his people and conquered nations that were incredibly stronger than the Israelites. Moses learned to believe in himself—in God. There’s much there for us to learn. We can accomplish nothing but with God; with God, we can accomplish anything. We can reject the false beliefs. We are successful. We are good enough. We are loved. Our society defines success as power, wealth, and fame. But we can’t take those things with us when we die. What we can take with us is what God wants us to have: character. Character can’t be bought or sold. It can only be earned through sacrifice and hard work. It can only be lived. That’s what I believe. I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty. I believe in Jesus Christ, his Son. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life. I believe in his spouse, Mary Immaculate. I believe that without them I can do nothing. I believe that with them I can do anything.
