Recently, Cardinal Robert McElroy removed Monsignor Steven Rosetti as archdiocese and exorcist for the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. Cardinal McElroy also severed formal ties with the D.C.-based St. Michael’s Center for Spiritual Renewal, one of the top providers of Catholic deliverance resources online.
Cardinal McElroy cited recent statements from Rosetti linking UFOs to demonic presence. I will offer my thoughts on that, but first, I will present the Catholic teaching on UFOs.
In fact, the Catholic Church does not have a formal position on the existence of aliens. It considers the question of aliens to be a scientific, rather than theological, issue.
So, it’s acceptable for Catholics to believe in aliens, not believe in aliens, not be sure, or to believe that aliens and UFOs are the result of spiritual hallucinations caused by demons. This last position is the one held by Monsignor Rosetti.
Cardinal McElroy found this position disagreeable enough to remove Monsignor Rosetti as archdiocese and exorcist and to sever ties with the St. Michael Center. That’s his right and authority, and we can be obedient to that. However, since the magisterium says that Monsignor Rosetti’s position is acceptable, he continues to be a priest in good standing, and the St. Michael Center for Spiritual Renewal continues to operate. This is a gift and a blessing to myself, my clients, and the Catholic Church.
Countless people have been helped by Monsignor Rosetti’s monthly deliverance sessions online, Father Chad Riper’s immense wisdom and holiness, and the internet’s finest collection of deliverance prayers. As a healer, I want to make it clear that deliverance spirituality often plays a central role in mental and spiritual health. And until I see any proof to the contrary, I trust Monsignor Rosetti and Father Chad Riper implicitly.
Please visit catholicexorcism.org to benefit from their resources. I’m not formally affiliated with them in any way. As a Franciscan Marian healer, I just firmly believe in what they do.
And remember: if you run into the devil or his minions, pray to Mary. Fighting evil is a two-step process. I pray to Mary, and she steps on its head. The Book of Revelation doesn’t have a UFO in it, but it does have an IFO—an identified flying object. Mary appears in the sky to rid us of evil for all eternity. And after she’s done with him, the devil will be breathing through straws. May she pray for us now and always. Amen.
